After six years as CEO of Danske Commodities, Helle Østergaard Kristiansen takes up a new position as Senior Vice President for Gas & Power at Equinor. She will be responsible for the company's global electricity and gas trading and will continue as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Danske Commodities.

- After the energy crisis, Equinor has become Europe's largest supplier of natural gas. It is a big responsibility that I look forward to taking on. As part of my new role, I will also be responsible for Equinor's electricity trading activities. I am looking forward to bringing my experience to bear in one of the world's largest energy companies and to working together with Equinor's global marketing and trading teams. And of course, I am also happy to continue to contribute to Danske Commodities' development as Chairman of the Board, says Helle Østergaard Kristiansen in a press release.

The replacement has been found internally in the form of Jakob Sørensen, who will take up the role of CEO on 1 September 2025. He has been employed by Danske Commodities for 20 years and was the fifth employee in the company. During his time at Danske Commodities, he has been, among other things, a trader, Chief Risk Officer and most recently CFO.

- I am very much looking forward to taking up the role of CEO of Danske Commodities. The new energy reality has made our role as a global energy trader more important than ever before, and our strong collaboration with Equinor gives Danske Commodities the opportunity to become a world-leading energy trading company within our segment. This is a great motivation for me as the new CEO – and certainly also for our ambitious employees, says Jakob Sørensen, CEO of Danske Commodities.

Danske Commodities became part of Equinor in 2019 and is currently responsible for electricity trading and certain gas activities in the Norwegian energy company. Who will replace Jakob Sørensen as CFO has not yet been decided.
