The Port of Aarhus has entered into an agreement with MT Højgaard Denmark to build a 430-meter new quay at the port's Omniterminal. The quay will prepare the terminal area for container handling for the shipping company MSC and the operator Terminal Investment Limited. The port announced this in a statement.

- There is no doubt that this is an important step towards establishing another attractive terminal area at the port. And with the plans for a new container terminal, it will create more opportunities for Danish businesses and, not least, strengthen security of supply, which will benefit both Aarhus and all of Denmark, says Thomas Haber Borch, CEO of the Port of Aarhus.

Earlier this year, the Danish Transport Authority granted permission to build the quay. Subsequently, the project has been put out to tender, with MT Højgaard Danmark being selected as the main contractor for the 430-metre-long quay with a water depth of 14 metres.

- We are pleased to have won the contract for the Port of Aarhus, which will ensure yet another attractive terminal area. Our skilled water engineers will be responsible for carrying out the work, and their skills are well suited to the task. We look forward to getting started and continuing our good collaboration with the Port of Aarhus, which we know from previous projects, says CEO of MT Højgaard Danmark Carsten Lund.

The work will begin shortly after the summer holidays and is expected to be completed at the end of 2026.
