The 16 municipalities behind Energnist I/S, which has operated waste-to-energy plants in Kolding and Esbjerg for many years, have restructured their cooperation in light of new legislation, which from 1 January requires that the incineration plants must be operated on commercial terms.
The experienced strategic advisor Kamma Eilschou Holm will become the new chairman of the board of the new Energnist A/S, while the mayor of Ikast-Brande, Ib Lauridsen (V), will become deputy chairman.
The other board members consist of Kenneth Jørgensen, CFO of Verdo, Anne Marie Søe Nørgaard, city council member of Herning, Jacob Bjørnskov Nielsen, city council member of Middelfart, Jakob Ville, city council member of Kolding, and Henning Ravn, city council member of Esbjerg. In addition, Jan Fletcher Hansen and Haije van der Weij will join as employee representatives.
Energnist A/S will continue to operate the plants in both Esbjerg and Kolding and be a driving force in the green transition, according to a press release, which highlights that groundbreaking sustainable projects are already underway. One of the most ambitious initiatives is the development of a CO2 capture solution at the plant in Esbjerg.
- Energnist A/S was created with the ambition to deliver both efficient operation and sustainable solutions. We are ready to offer customers competitive and environmentally responsible alternatives for handling residual waste, says Kamma Eilschou Holm.
The 16 owner municipalities are Billund, Esbjerg, Fanø, Fredericia, Hedensted, Herning, Holstebro, Ikast-Brande, Kolding, Lemvig, Middelfart, Ringkøbing-Skjern, Silkeborg, Varde, Vejle and Viborg.
