
It was on a sunny but freezing cold spring day in April 2023 that the government established the Port Partnership. However, rumors around the Danish ports are already circulating that the partnership's work has been slightly delayed, and that a number of expert organizations have been invited inside the doors.
DOI.dk has therefore asked the Ministry of Business and Industry how the work is progressing, and which actors have been consulted so far. Acting press officer at the ministry, Tina Buhl Pretzmann, states the following in a written response to this media outlet:
"The Ministry of Industry and Trade can inform you that the Partnership for the Development of Danish Commercial Ports has held five meetings as of January 17, 2024."
The following is further information about the actors that have been involved so far.
"In addition to the partnership members, additional actors have been involved, including the Mærsk McKinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, Vestas, COWI, KPMG, Ørsted, the Expert Committee on the Ports Act, Finans Danmark, KommuneKredit and PFA Pension, as well as a number of Danish commercial ports," the ministry writes.
Regarding the timetable, it further states:
- The partnership is to submit its recommendations to the government in the first part of 2024.
It is reported from DOI.dk's sources that a meeting is planned for March. But it is uncertain whether there is a need to use this meeting date.
One of the partnership members would like to comment on how the work is progressing, also regarding the schedule. The plan was for the work to be completed around the turn of the year.
- The work is going well. It may take a little longer than expected, but it will probably be really good, says Jan Villadsen, group chairman at 3F Transportgruppen and a union member of the Port Partnership.
