It would be advantageous for European companies to enter the Ukrainian market now.  This is what EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, said at a press conference ahead of the EU-Ukraine business summit 2025 on Thursday.

- Ukraine's institutions are reforming and are already adapting to European standards. This means that European companies will benefit from entering the Ukrainian market even before Ukraine actually becomes a member state, she said.

According to Kos, Ukraine is already undertaking the necessary reforms to become an EU member state. She points out, among other things, that Ukraine will be fully integrated into the European energy market by 2027 if the planned reforms continue.

- This means opportunities for private investment in energy infrastructure and green technology, which will create lasting benefits on both sides of the borders, says Kos.

In comparison, according to the Commissioner, the same process took 15 years for the Baltic countries.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Wednesday that Ukraine aims to become a European member state immediately after the war is over. According to Marta Kos, Ukraine's integration into the EU is already underway.

- Ukraine is integrating into the European single market in real time - both in energy, digitalization, transport and industrial standards, says Marta Kos.

- Invest in Ukraine, and you are also investing in Ukraine's future, adds Kos.

The Confederation of Danish Industry agrees that Ukraine's rapprochement with the EU creates "unique momentum for Danish companies".  This is according to the Confederation of Danish Industry's head of European policy, Rikke Wettendorff Nørgaard.

- With reforms and market access rapidly developing, Danish companies should position themselves now - both to contribute to the reconstruction and to secure a strong market position in the long term, she says.
