CarbonCuts' founder and mastermind Ken Wesnæs has decided to step down as CEO. From August, board member Maj Wendorff will take over the role as interim CEO while a permanent replacement is sought for the company, which in June 2024 received a state license to investigate the possibilities for CO2 storage on land through the so-called Ruby project. The company announced this in a statement.
Ken Wesnæs has been involved from the idea stage to the building of an organization with 25 employees and the implementation of Denmark's largest 3D seismic survey to date on South Lolland. In June 2024
- CarbonCuts and Project Ruby have reached a place and a size where I believe it is the right time to pass the baton on, and I am proud of how far we have come in a really short time, says Ken Wesnæs and continues:
- My driving force has always been idea development, establishment and direction – not necessarily being at the helm of a larger organization in operation. The organization is in place and moving forward strongly with a really talented team and a solid foundation. It has been a fantastic experience to build CarbonCuts from idea to reality.
Board member Maj Wendorff, who is therefore stepping in as interim director, was previously a state geologist at GEUS and most recently Head of Market Energy and CO2 Storage at Rambøll. Wendorff has been part of CarbonCuts' board of directors since January 2024.
- I know CarbonCuts very well from my board work and have therefore agreed to take on the role of interim director until a permanent solution is found. I look forward to supporting the team and ensuring continuity in the next crucial phase of our activities, which is already well underway, she says.
CarbonCuts' work with CO2 storage in Denmark continues unchanged. CarbonCuts is currently owned by the energy company BlueNord.
