An annual report with a profit of DKK 29.5 million out of a turnover of DKK 757 million and plans for a large CO2 capture plant characterise the waste company ARGO's result for 2024. The report falls during a period of incorporation and competition in the residual waste area. This is what ARGO writes.
- With the incorporation, we have equipped ARGO for the future with a focus on both stable operations and green development. Now we are stronger than ever – ready to deliver effective solutions that drive the green transition and create value for our owner municipalities, says Tomas Breddam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARGO.
The company has continued to work on the possibility of establishing a CO2 capture plant at the Energy Tower in Roskilde. The plant has the potential to capture up to 350,000 tons of CO2 per year and is part of ARGO's overall climate efforts. ARGO is among ten companies that have been prequalified for the next phase of the Danish Energy Agency's assessment of support from the CO2 capture pool. A decision is expected in April 2026.
Has won several tenders
In 2024, ARGO utilized 351,000 tons of residual waste for energy, corresponding to heat for approximately 56,000 households and electricity for approximately 81,000 households. According to the company, recycling initiatives have reduced the climate footprint by approximately 5,772 tons of CO2, and the 14 recycling sites had a combined 1.56 million. visitors.
In the new competitive market, ARGO has entered into agreements for the treatment of residual waste in 16 municipalities. The agreements are valid from 1 July 2025 and cover approx. 644,000 citizens.
- We are proud of the overall result of the tenders. It shows that we are able to match both economy and quality, and that our open and transparent approach to the tender process is appreciated. That we both continue the collaboration with our owner municipalities and at the same time attract new partners is the best possible result, says Trine Lindegaard Holmberg, Director of ARGO.
