3F Chairman: Let the Arne pension follow the increasing retirement age

Henning Overgaard believes that the right to an Arne pension should be strengthened as the retirement age is raised.

There have been many suggestions on how the future pension system should be put together after Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) opened up for a renegotiation of the so-called welfare agreement. It says that the retirement age should increase in line with the general increase in life expectancy.

And the chairman of the trade union 3F, Henning Overgaard, has no objection to that part in principle. He just believes that the right to the so-called Arne pension - which is actually called early retirement - should follow suit. This means that when the retirement age increases by one year, the period during which one can receive the Arne pension must also be extended by one year.

He tells Børsen that there is a difference in how long certain professional groups can work - and when they enter the labor market.

- You can't just blindly keep raising the retirement age without ensuring security and proper arrangements for those who have been in the labor market the most years, he tells Børsen.

3F is the country's largest trade union. Henning Overgaard does not believe that the proposal favors 3F's members at the expense of others. He just believes that it gives them a "fair and equitable" opportunity to be able to retire before their bodies are worn out.

FH also believes that the right to the Arne pension should be expanded. However, the position here is also that the planned increase in the retirement age should be completely scrapped.
