Energy Minister Lars Aagaard is concerned that the many new data centers that are springing up in the country are taking up the scarce capacity in the Danish electricity grid.

Therefore, he will investigate whether there is a need and possibility for political priority to be given to private Danish customers and Danish companies over large data centers when more users are to be allowed onto the electricity grid.

He says this to Finans after Energinet announced on Friday that in some places in the country there is only limited capacity left in the existing transmission grid.

- I suspect that data centers and battery parks, among other things, are taking up much of the available capacity in the electricity grid, Aagaard tells Finans.

Aagaard will first investigate the extent of the problems in order to assess how best to intervene politically.

According to Finans, there are examples in both Jutland and Zealand of Danish companies being refused connections to the electricity grid due to lack of capacity.
