If a local area does not want a solar park, there must not be a solar park in the local area. In any case, the Danish Democrats are not going to contribute to that, says chairman Inger Støjberg in her speech at the party's national meeting in Herning on Saturday.
- So when we go to municipal elections next year, it is our clear promise to the voters that we will not contribute to pulling down solar parks over the heads of local areas that would prefer to be free, says Støjberg.
However, it will not be an ultimate requirement for the Danish Democrats when constitution agreements are to be made in the country's municipalities after next year's municipal elections.
- We get a bunch of municipal council members who are going to point to blue mayors. And so in the constitution agreement, it is clear that this is one of the demands that we are taking with us. But we are not a party that makes ultimate demands. But we are a party that works in the direction we want. And we will do everything we possibly can to slow down these solar cells, says Støjberg to Ritzau after the speech.
Støjberg: "We need a good dose of common sense"
The municipal election promise comes in connection with the party having proposed an immediate stop to the government's plans to set up solar installations around the country. However, it is the municipalities themselves that have submitted bids and approved locations where the solar systems are to be placed. Still, Inger Støjberg and the Danish Democrats want "we pull the emergency brake and say stop".
- We need a fair amount of common sense - also when it comes to the green transition. I can at least guarantee that we will do our part, said Støjberg in his speech.
Instead, she suggests that work be initiated that clarifies how much green power is actually needed to cover Denmark's energy needs. Solar cells can then be placed on the roofs of public buildings to cover the need. Støjberg criticizes that more electricity must be produced than is needed in Denmark.
- We must not be a battery for the whole of Northern Germany, she said.
Climate Minister: Støjberg will remove job opportunities in rural areas
In total, there are political plans for 26 solar parks, of which 24 are located in Jutland. Støjberg's announcement meets criticism from climate minister Lars Aagaard (M). He tells Jyllands-Posten that Støjberg's proposal will "close down job opportunities in rural areas".
- Inger Støjbjerg at Christiansborg thinks that she should sit in Copenhagen and decide what should be decided in the city councils. I am not a supporter of that type of centralism and Copenhagenism, says Aagaard to the newspaper.
