The case that the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade (V), has provided incorrect information to the Danish Parliament is "right down to the trivia department". This is according to member of the Rules of Procedure Committee (UFO) Henrik Frandsen (M), after it emerged on Tuesday that Søren Gade is still chairman of the board of directors of the company Tecleaf, which supplies solar cells for military use.

In December 2022, Søren Gade otherwise informed UFO that he had resigned from his position in Tecleaf.

- It is a company that is being liquidated, and it is an unpaid position. So it will not affect my position today, says Henrik Frandsen ahead of a meeting in UFO on Wednesday at 11 am.

Member of UFO Ole Birk Olesen (LA) criticizes Søren Gade's actions.

- It is very critical that Søren Gade gave incorrect information about his duties outside the Folketing when he was appointed by the Folketing as Speaker in 2022. It is a breach of trust, he says in a written comment.

- In the Liberal Alliance, we do not think it is necessarily problematic that the Speaker of the Folketing has work and duties outside of being Speaker of the Folketing, but we want correct information about it, which is also required by the Folketing Election Act, says Ole Birk Olesen.

He calls on Søren Gade to show greater openness to the public. At the meeting on Wednesday, Søren Gade's duties in addition to the position as Speaker of the Folketing will be debated.

Tecleaf has not had any activity since 2022 and is in liquidation, and according to Søren Gade, this is the reason why he has retained the position as chairman of the board.

The development comes after a long period of criticism of Søren Gade's role in a completely different matter. It concerns his role as paid chairman of the board of Esbjerg Port, while he is also the Speaker of the Folketing. Here, Søren Gade has been criticized for the fact that the two roles can cast doubt on his competence. Specifically, the Port of Esbjerg is at a potentially important time, when Denmark's major armament and shipbuilding can benefit the port.

In his defense, Søren Gade has repeatedly emphasized that he had been approved for the dual role by the Committee on the Rules of Procedure.

The Alternative wants Gade out of the Port of Esbjerg

According to member of UFO Helene Brydensholt (AL), the new information in the case about the chairmanship in Tecleaf "only makes the question of the chairman's dual roles even more serious."

- The Alternative strongly urges the chairman to resign from his position in the Port of Esbjerg. Alternatively, resign as Speaker of the Folketing, writes Helene Brydensholt in a written comment.

The Alternative wants the Speaker of the Folketing to be unable to hold other positions.
