Lemvig Municipality will receive 10.7 million DKK in 2026 from the government, as part of the benefits of establishing new capacity for the production of green electricity in Lemvig Municipality. In total, the government has distributed 200 million DKK.
- Lemvig is one of the municipalities in Denmark that is best at setting up solar and wind energy on land for the benefit of the entire country. This should of course be rewarded. That is why I am very pleased that we in the government have decided that Lemvig Municipality will receive a reward of almost 11 million DKK in 2026 for being one of Denmark's best municipalities when it comes to renewable energy, says Acting Minister for Urban and Rural Areas Thomas Danielsen (V).
In Lemvig, the mayor is happy about the money that is now on its way to the municipality:
- I am glad that the government has listened to us. We in Lemvig can and will help strengthen Denmark's position in the production of green electricity and the development of technology and companies that can process green electricity, says Mayor Erik Flyvholm (V).
- But a unanimous municipal council and our citizens expect that there will be greater local gains, he adds.
Lemvig Municipality, together with Struer and Holstebro Municipalities, has worked purposefully to get the government and parliament to talk about strengthening the sharing of the gains from renewable energy. In December 2023, the three municipalities presented a proposal to introduce a development contribution of four øre per kWh of produced green electricity (renewable energy).
The proposal quickly received support from partners in the Business Region Midwest, including Herning, Ikast Brande, Ringkøbing Skjern and Skive Municipalities. The proposal has the support of 25 municipalities and a number of other players.
The financing of the 200 million kr. has previously been criticized by, among others, KL. The 200 million kr. is not new money, but must be taken from the block grant.
"It is really good that there is an incentive for the municipalities that are at the forefront of the green transition. But it is also no secret that the financing model is definitely not something that has grown in our backyard," says a written comment from the chairman of KL's Climate and Environment Committee, Johannes Lundsfryd Jensen (S).
