BILLUND: Lego is behind the Billund Solar Park, which will be one of the municipality's largest. The park will cover 102 hectares south of Havremarken, equivalent to about 140 football fields. It writes Jydske Vestkysten. The solar cell plant itself covers approximately 65 hectares, while the rest of the area is used for nature and recreational purposes, including new forests, edge planting and wetlands. The purpose of the solar park is to reduce Lego's CO2 emissions and contribute to the group's climate goals.
The future park will be located between Havremarken, Østerbyvej and Koldingvej and will be connected directly to Lego's factory. The factory can only use about a tenth of the production - the rest is fed into the electricity grid via a transformer station in Nørup.
The plant is expected to be tested in the spring of 2027 and put into operation the same summer, but the building permit has not yet been approved.
