Verdo, but also the energy industry in general, is currently experiencing challenges with recruiting qualified workers. Verdo is facing a generational change among its employees. Recruitment is therefore high on the agenda at the energy company.

With this in mind, Verdo has launched a mentoring scheme in the hope of attracting new young employees, which will help attract talented employees from outside who want to learn and develop in close collaboration with their colleagues. Verdo states this in a press release.

- There are many talented people at Verdo with unique knowledge. That knowledge helps create Verdo, and it should not be lost when an employee is ready to retire, says John Myrup, who is Sales Manager at Verdo.

Mutual joy between mentor and mentee

John Myrup is Mathias Lykkemark is part of the scheme, and they have worked closely together since Mathias Lykkemark was hired almost a year and a half ago. Mathias Lykkemark was a newly qualified machinist when he started at Verdo, while John Myrup has over 25 years of experience in the industry.

- It has been a fantastic way to start somewhere new. I came straight from school, so it was a good experience to be hooked on John – his ability to take me along and learn from him has been incredibly rewarding, says Mathias Lykkemark.

John Myrup has also been happy with the process and the collaboration.

- It has simply been a pleasure to have Mathias under my wing. He is a skilled salesman, and he has a good grasp of the technical aspects of the work we have to do. And he is curious and asks questions about the work, which is good for both of us, says John Myrup.
