Energinet has chosen to invest in a new IT/OT platform that will ensure more efficient handling of the growing amounts of energy data from players in the Danish energy market. NNIT and the subcontractor ChangeGroup have been selected as technology partners for the project following a tender.
Together, they have won a framework agreement that extends over the next four years, with the option to extend the collaboration by another four years. The framework agreement has a value of three-digit million. NNIT does not disclose the exact value of the agreement in the press release the company has issued.
Specifically, the framework agreement means that NNIT and ChangeGroup will provide DevOps specialists for the development of the platform, which will replace older systems and ensure flexible, scalable and future-proof solutions. The project focuses on modern technologies and cybersecurity, and it plays a central role in the green transition.
- The green transition and the security of our critical infrastructure have almost never been more important than they are today. For example, the Center for Cybersecurity assesses that the threat to the energy sector is very high, so our technology and information security level must be top-notch. We are not just developing an IT project, but a strategic and central platform for the energy system of the future, and therefore it is important for us to collaborate with actors who think security-by-design and have the right business and technological skills, says Nicolaj Nørgaard Peulicke, CIO of Energinet.
According to NNIT, their DevOps skills and documented security methods were crucial for them being chosen for the task. Energinet also emphasized NNIT's experience with OT environments, focus on knowledge building and the ability to collaborate effectively with Energinet's own teams.
- Energinet's significant investments in technology and security match our ambitions to deliver solid solutions to the public sector and at the same time open the door to more collaborations with key players in the energy industry, says Kasper Søndergaard Andersen, Senior Vice President, Head of Region Denmark, NNIT.
