Member of the European Parliament Sigrid Friis from De Radikale is ready to open mines within the EU's borders to obtain crucial raw materials for the green transition. She also suggests state aid to get the industry going because it is strategically important. This is written by Børsen.dk.
Sigrid Friis replaced at EP24 the experienced Morten Helveg Petersen, who left the parliament after ten years. Sigrid Friis, like Morten Helveg Peteresen, has spoken out about the importance of the green transition, and if the EU is to succeed in the green transition, it requires access to critical raw materials and minerals. Sigrid Friis therefore calls for the EU not to be dependent on importing raw materials from countries that are not seen as "an alliance partner".
- For too long we have had a focus on production costs and price, instead of realizing that there is also value in strategic autonomy, she tells Børsen.
