RINGSTED: With a new renewable energy plan, Ringsted Municipality will involve citizens in future decisions about renewable energy.
The plan means that local councils and school boards from the entire municipality will be invited to a workshop from the start, where they can contribute ideas and suggestions for how to work with renewable energy solutions, such as wind turbines and solar cells, in the municipality.
The background is that Ringsted Municipality must be climate neutral in 2045, and this must include, among other things: can be achieved by producing renewable energy in Ringsted that corresponds to the total energy consumption in the municipality, as stated in the municipality's climate plan.
How exactly this will be done has yet to be decided, but Lasse Mølholt (V), chairman of Ringsted Municipality's Planning and Housing Committee, acknowledges that a new plan is needed after the transition work lost support last year.
A plan that involves both citizens and businesses in Ringsted to a much greater extent:
- We have learned from the previous process and know that the transition to renewable energy solutions is difficult and requires time for dialogue and idea development. It is in strong cooperation between the local parties that we will find the best solutions, so I hope that many will participate, says Lasse Mølholt.
The new plan with a focus on letting citizens and businesses have a say also means that no political decisions will be made about specific renewable energy projects in 2025.
Applications for new renewable energy projects have therefore been temporarily put on hold.
