A number of local energy communities have received support for projects from the Fund for Local Energy Communities and Local Anchoring of Climate Transition. The Danish Energy Agency states this in a press release.

"The Fund for Local Energy Communities and Local Anchoring of Climate Transition aims to support information projects that contribute to the development of renewable energy solutions in the local community. It also aims to support larger projects that can develop joint solutions for the establishment, organization, operation and financing of energy communities locally and that can increase knowledge about energy communities," the announcement says.

A total of DKK 4.4 million was allocated for these purposes in the fund for the financial year 2024. The fund was also supplemented with saved funds and funds from returns, so that commitments for a total of almost DKK 5.9 million could be made. DKK. And these funds have now all been distributed to a total of 13 projects.

The majority of the funds (DKK 4.7 million) have been distributed to 7 major projects, which will, among other things, establish a sustainable and self-sufficient energy community, prepare a cooperative for local electricity production and sharing to go into operation. In addition, the sub-pool for information projects has received six applications, all of which were satisfactory. These projects have been granted the remaining DKK 1.2 million.

"The information projects will, among other things, explain the roles and tasks that come with the establishment of an energy community, and the possibility for municipalities to participate in energy communities."

In the spring of 2025, the Danish Energy Agency will evaluate the pool for local energy communities and local anchoring of climate change. The pool is then expected to reopen in 2025. More information will follow on the Danish Energy Agency's website about the subsidy pool.
