KOLDING: Energinet has changed its proposal for the routing of a new 400 kV connection through the Kolding area, but cannot move them any further without affecting other local communities and citizens, says project director Søren Damsgaard Mikkelsen to JydskeVestkysten.
The announcement comes after Kolding Mayor Jakob Ville (V) last week lashed out at Energinet in JydskeVestkysten, where he called the state-owned energy company's new proposal a "mockery of all the work that we have put in it," after Energinet had published its final proposal for the route for the new high-voltage connection.
- It is so small that you can hardly see it. Especially at Vester Nebel, it is unacceptable that the route continues to be so close to the city that it effectively blocks future development opportunities. The route has been changed slightly, but it doesn't really help anything, Jakob Ville told the media.
The announcement also followed massive protests from the many affected citizens and Kolding's politicians in the first round of consultations. JydskeVestkysten told of hundreds of residents who were concerned that the project would destroy nature and put an end to urban development.
But now the matter has reportedly come to an end. Søren Damsgaard Mikkelsen explains that the company has received around 350 specific amendment proposals through its own consultation process, which have resulted in the final proposal for the route. He believes that Energinet has also "made a number of changes" to the proposal, also based on objections from both citizens and politicians in Kolding - including a longer distance to Vester Nebel - approximately 500 meters, where it is the most.
- But we have not been able to move it significantly more, because then it would come too close to some other citizens and the urban areas of Ågård and Ferup, and it is also inappropriate from a natural point of view, he says.
The Danish Planning and Rural Development Agency will now prepare a proposal for a national plan directive, which will be subject to public consultation this summer, where citizens can raise objections before the alignment is expected to be approved at the end of 2026.
