The Elforsk program, administered by the Danish Energy Agency, has just announced that it has awarded a total of DKK 12 million to three new digitalization projects that will make the energy system more efficient. The Danish Energy Agency stated this in a statement.
The three projects that have received support will receive between approximately three and almost five million DKK. Reel ApS "Helios - a control system for hybrid renewable energy plants" has received the most support.
The project, which will create an optimization and management model that creates stronger business models and financing mechanisms for hybrid plants that combine solar cells and energy storage, has received DKK 4,955,661 from the Elforsk pool. The expectation is that the Helios project will be able to reduce investment risk and form the basis for new financing mechanisms for flexible renewable assets – and thus contribute to a faster expansion of renewable energy.
The second most money in this distribution has been received by DTU's 3PhaseInsight project. Thus, DKK 3,994,249 is allocated to the project, which hopes to be able to utilize three-phase measurements from household electricity meters to gain insight into the electricity grid and thus free up capacity by reducing phase imbalances and distortions in the grid. This will allow the electricity grid capacity to be better utilized.
Aalborg University has received DKK 2,917,429 for the project "HEATCODE: Improvements in heating efficiency via Termonet Design Development". Here, a digitalized tool for the Termonet system will be developed.
Termonet is a geothermal heating solution where the heat is produced with a geothermal heat pump in each connected building, just like with individual geothermal heating, but where heat pumps and ground coils are connected via a two-strand pipe network that must be buried in the building. AAU hopes with "Heatcode" to be able to create a solution that will make the Termonet network more scalable, more efficient, reduce electricity use and costs, and promote cooperation between stakeholders.
Elforsk aims to promote efficient energy use and flexibility solutions within electricity and energy through data, digitalization and sector coupling in accordance with environmental and socio-economic considerations.
