A supercomputer in Denmark officially ranks 21st on the Top 500 list. The list is a recognized ranking of the world's most powerful supercomputers. The AI supercomputer Gefion has been given the prestigious position. This was announced by the supercomputer's owners, the Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI), in a press release.
Just three weeks ago, the supercomputer was inaugurated, attended by King Frederik of Denmark and CEO Jensen Huang from the technology company Nvidia. The Top 500 list is a list of the most powerful computer systems worldwide. It is compiled every six months. DCAI was proud of the ranking.
- Gefion's ranking as number 21 on the top 500 list is a milestone for us and for Denmark's global position within AI and supercomputing, says Nadia Carlsten, CEO of DCAI.
- This recognition is not only proof of the advanced technology we can offer our users, but also reflects our ambitions to promote groundbreaking scientific research and innovation that has not previously been possible, she adds.
DCAI calls the top 500 list "a benchmark for technological progress and global competitiveness in the field".
Gefion will be used, among other things, for the development of new drugs, diagnosing diseases and finding effective solutions in the green transition.
The supercomputer has cost 700 million DKK, of which 600 million was paid for by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the Danish Export and Investment Fund has contributed 100 million. DKK..
