Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M) brought the liberal messages to the stage at Energy Cluster Denmark's annual meeting 2024. In terms of style, the minister had chosen to wear a western look, which is otherwise only Lars Boje Mathiesen is best known for in the Folketing.

Energy Cluster Denmark annual meeting 2024 :
Lars Aagaard: We will meet the 2030 climate goals with great certainty

The Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities from the Moderates did not hide his "liberal mindset" and that "security" is not part of the package on the way to the green transition.

According to his own statement, Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M) had left the speech at home when he, as today's keynote speaker at Energy Cluster Denmark's annual meeting in Ørestaden, shot from the hip.

The minister called for "enthusiasm" rather than "security" - and if he personally wanted to seek security, he would not be on stage as minister today. He also related this to the energy sector.

- Only the best will end up being left behind, and security is not part of that, said Lars Aagaard.

No Catholic approach

However, the minister also touched on how we will consume energy in the future.

- There are some who want a somewhat Catholic approach to limiting our consumption. I'm sure it would be tough, said Lars Aagaard, highlighting his own approach:

- We stand for a different path with solutions where we can live the good life. It's a technological approach that is part of my DNA.

A very concrete way was also created to make it happen.

- We are focusing on the development of offshore wind and onshore renewable energy, and we are focusing on hydrogen and CCS, he said.

However, there is no doubt that the path through the green transition is not easy.

- We are embarking on a huge experiment where we will have created a new energy system in just 20 years. This presents both risks and opportunities. Along the way, it also means digitalization, said Lars Aagaard.

Achievement of the 2030 goals

The minister also clearly knew that the companies present in the room have a problem finding employees.

- Politically, I completely agree with the framework that is needed to ensure recruitment, the minister stated.

He did not avoid the political hot potato either.

- Now we will achieve the 2030 climate goals with great certainty, said Lars Aagaard, and turned to part of the solution that could also promote exports:

- We must become more international. This is, for example, when you achieve success with your solutions from extremely talented companies and people.
