The Port of Hirtshals has achieved a record turnover of 87.4 million DKK in 2024 and closes the year with a result of 10 million DKK. This comes after a year of increased traffic and increasing activity across the port's core areas. This is what the Port of Hirtshals writes in a press release.

– A record turnover in 2024 and another year of solid earnings is very satisfactory, says Michael Lundgaard Thomsen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Hirtshals, and continues:

– During the year, the port's board and management have worked closely together to strengthen the port's core activities within fishing, logistics, maritime services and circularity. The annual accounts for 2024 also reflect that we, the board, have made a number of strategic decisions that ensure timely and future-proof investments in the expansion of the Port of Hirtshals and sustainable growth. These are investments that not only shape the future of the port, but also strengthen the overall business ecosystem in the region, of which the Port of Hirtshals is a central part.

In 2024, the port handled a total of 1,759,000 tons of cargo, which is 90,000 tons more than the year before. In addition, 742,000 passenger cars and 128,000 trucks or trailers were transported across the quay. However, the greatest growth came from fishing, where the total value of landed fish reached approximately DKK 496 million – the highest level in five years and an increase of 29 percent compared to 2023.

– Fishing in Hirtshals and traffic across the quay are a prerequisite for our work and one of the indicators of how we, our partners and customers in and near the port are doing. Therefore, we are of course working to ensure that the positive trend of increased traffic continues into 2025, says Per Holm Nørgaard, CEO of the Port of Hirtshals.

The port expansion, known as 'Nordhavnen', remains a central focus point for the port, which is working to strengthen the financial foundation for the coming stages of the project.

– The expansion is a future-proofing of Hirtshals, enabling the port to meet the increasing demand for larger facilities from our customers. Therefore, in 2024, we have focused on increasing our liquidity and creating an even stronger financial basis for the coming years' work with Nordhavnen, says Per Holm Nørgaard.
