It has been a public spectacle that an internal power struggle has been fought in the biogas group BioCirc in recent days.  Now the disputes have caused chairman Michael Haaning to resign from the board. The two members of the food group DLG are also resigning.

This is stated in a press release from BioCirc on Monday, after a number of media outlets were able to describe the conflict at the top of the company.  On the one hand, five board members - including the three above - have stood. Just before New Year's, they announced in a group that CEO Bertel Maigaard had been fired.

They wanted to dismiss him because, according to Berlingske, the parties had different views on management. Børsen has reported that Maigaard has been accused of having a tough management style.  However, the director has opposed what appeared to be a dismissal. It was subsequently announced that the dissenting board members would now be dismissed at an upcoming extraordinary general meeting. Something that the chairman and the two members from DLG have anticipated.

- The course of recent weeks has made it clear to us that DLG and BioCirc's manager, Maigaard & Molbech II, have different views on values and governance, says Mette Sehested, Director of Communications at DLG, in a press release from the group.

- Therefore, under the current circumstances, we no longer have the necessary trust in them as managers, and this has led to us withdrawing our members from the board.

In a press release from BioCirc, Bertel Maigaard, who has remained director, stated on Monday that he is aware of frustrations among some of his employees.

- I must admit that my ambitions and passion have contributed to frustration among some employees at BioCirc, he says and adds:

- Of course, we need to resolve this so that it is not only professionally interesting to go to work in BioCirc, but also something you look forward to Monday morning.

The press release states that a management coach will be appointed to address "the management challenges".

BioCirc, which describes itself as one of the world's largest producers of biogas, was founded in 2021 and has been called a growth comet in the field, among other things.

In the spring, the group secured support of almost 900 million kroner from the Danish Energy Agency. The money is scheduled to be paid out continuously between 2026 and 2032.
