The EU ranking EngiRank, which evaluates 226 technical universities in 27 EU countries, Switzerland and Norway, has just released its latest ranking. And this assessment of the universities is good news for DTU. The Danish university is thus at the top of the list, which is based on a wide range of recognized EU data sources. This is stated by DTU in a press release.
- It is a great pleasure that DTU is at the top. The first place on EngiRank is the result of a joint focus on delivering research, education and innovation in an international top class. The result is due to the impressive work of students, employees and partners, says DTU Rector Anders Bjarklev.
DTU is ranked number one on EngiRank's overall ranking, which is based on 13 indicators divided into five criteria: Research, innovation, internationalization, interdisciplinarity and the UN's development goal SDG 9, which aims to build a robust infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and promote innovation.
The ranking takes into account, among other things, research and innovation funding, as well as the universities' international alliances and collaboration.
- DTU wants to be the university of innovation. We have invested in creating an innovation environment characterized by incentive and interest and with a wide range of programs and funding. Today, it is a living part of DTU's research and education, which EngiRank's ranking underlines, says Anders Bjarklev.
This is the second time that EngiRank has evaluated the technical universities in the EU, and it is the second time that DTU has been named the best university. EngiRank only evaluates the technical universities in the EU, but this year has expanded the list to include Norway and Switzerland, which have two institutions from both countries. English universities are not included in the ranking.
EngiRank's primary criteria are: Research, innovation, teaching quality and the universities' work with the UN's sustainability goals. In addition, it operates with seven subject rankings, where DTU's ranking can be seen here:
- Chemical Engineering: 1
- Civil Engineering: 1
- Electrical, electronic and information engineering: 3
- Environmental engineering: 1
- Materials engineering: 4
- Mechanical Engineering: 1
- Medical Engineering: 3
