The association Fair Varme Odsherred, which represents 1,100 district heating customers, is complaining to both the Danish Public Utilities Supervisory Authority and the Danish National Appeals Board. DR.dk reports. The northwest Zealand heating customers are complaining to the Danish Public Utilities Supervisory Authority about price increases of up to 70 percent and high fees for customers who want to withdraw.

The price increases have come after Odsherred Forsyning was put under reconstruction last year with a debt of more than one billion. DKK. Part of the large debt in Odsherred Forsyning is due to a failed rollout of district heating in the subsidiary Odsherred Varme. According to DR, both Odsherred Forsyning and Odsherred Varme are now under reconstruction. On May 15, the reconstruction plan will be presented to the Bankruptcy Court in Holbæk.

- There is a debt of over a billion, and it should not be the district heating customers who end up paying too much of it, says lawyer Nikolaj Juhl Hansen, who represents the district heating customers, to DR.

The heating customers are also complaining to the National Appeals Board, which supervises the municipalities. They do not believe that Odsherred Municipality has conducted sufficient supervision of Odsherred Forsyning and Odsherred Varme. Furthermore, the municipality, in the complainants' opinion, has not taken steps to ensure the district heating customers an alternative heat source if Odsherred Varme ends up being declared bankrupt.

Neither Odsherred Municipality nor Odsherred Forsyning has wanted to be interviewed by DR about the matter. However, Odsherred Forsyning writes to DR that it has "confidence that both the Danish Public Utilities Authority and the Danish Appeals Board will conduct a thorough and objective assessment".
