The shipowner from Fredericia, Jørgen Holm Christensen, has sued Femern A/S for no less than 29 million DKK. The background is that in 2012 the shipowner entered into an agreement with Femern A/S for partial compensation because a five-year agreement on watchkeeping during the construction of the Fehmarnbelt connection was interrupted.
Here he received six million DKK – at the same time, Jørgen Holm Christensen was verbally promised work again when work on the fixed connection resumed. Although the shipowner's company subsequently went bankrupt, he had numerous meetings with Femern A/S in Copenhagen in the period from 2012 to 2020. But when work resumed, the verbal agreement had been forgotten – which led to the shipowner repeatedly contacting the state-owned company to have the agreement complied with. While the shipowner, a former employee and an auditor believe that a verbal agreement has been reached - Femern A/S believes the opposite.
So far, 73-year-old Jørgen Holm Christensen has both presented audio recordings and contacted DF's party leader Morten Messerschmidt, who has asked the Minister of Transport about the matter. The Ministry of Transport owns Femern A/S. The shipowner then proceeded to file a police report, but the case was dropped by the police. The futile attempts to fulfill the oral agreement have now culminated in the shipowner, with the help of Advokaterne Strandvejen, suing Femern A/S for 29 million DKK at the Copenhagen City Court. DOI.dk has had access to the extensive summons that the court received on March 13.
But the shipowner would have preferred to have avoided it getting to this point.
- I'm actually sorry that it had to come to this. That's why I've tried to call the director of Femern A/S, says Jørgen Holm Christensen about an inquiry that has not borne fruit.
But even though he would prefer to reach an agreement, he is very ready for a lawsuit.
- I have a good case, and my lawyers say so too, he says.
Jørgen Holm Christensen has more than 25 years of experience, where he has performed watchkeeping during the work on the Great Belt Link, the Øresund Bridge and the Fehmarnbelt from 2009 to 2012. He is also among the pioneers in offshore wind, where he has sailed crews in connection with the construction of the offshore parks Middelgrund, Nysted and Horns Rev 1.
DOI.dk has been in contact with CEO of Femern A/S Henrik Vincentsen, who has no comments on the lawsuit filed by Jørgen Holm Christensen.
