Mayor of Odense and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Odense, Peter Rahbæk Juel, has just broken ground for the construction of six new production and logistics halls in a new hall complex of 10,000 m2.

It will be the largest hall construction in the history of the Port of Odense, writes the port in a press release.

- The continued development of the Port of Odense is crucial for the port to remain an attractive location for Danish and international companies in the future. The Port of Odense is the center for the production of increasingly more and larger offshore wind turbines and contributes to the creation of thousands of private jobs here on Funen. It is a crucial step towards my ambition that we will create 30,000 new private jobs in Odense by 2035, says Peter Rahbæk Juel.

Right now, 98 percent of the buildings are leased out of an existing building stock of over 200,000 m2 of buildings at the Port of Odense. In addition, a large part of the 50,000 m2 in Odense Dry Port is also already leased. It is largely companies within offshore wind that have leased in.

The wind industry is facing great busyness in the coming years with building parts for offshore wind turbines, which are getting bigger and bigger and can therefore only be built in ports. This leads to a natural need for subcontractors and logistics companies for the large offshore wind expansion in Europe to follow suit and locate their companies in ports - side by side with the large manufacturers. Therefore, the 10,000 m2 of production and logistics halls are expected to be fully leased during 2025, and there is already a dialogue with the market before the foundation is cast for the construction.

- We are experiencing massive growth among the companies at the port. Therefore, investments in new capacities, such as our upcoming production and logistics halls, are crucial to meet demand in the coming years. We know the importance of daring to invest and being one step ahead of the market, says Carsten Aa, CEO of Odense Havn A/S.

There is general growth among the companies at the port, but wind companies in particular stand out as an industry that is taking up more and more space. It is not only the large companies at the port that are increasingly expanding into new facilities. It is also the local companies that demand more space in new production and logistics halls.

- As a port, it is always our most important task to create the best facilities for the entire value chain for the benefit of current and future companies at the Port of Odense, and here our newest production and logistics halls are an important step towards that mission, says Carsten Aa, CEO, Odense Havn A/S.
