NÆSTVED: In one of the largest urban development projects in Næstved Municipality, a unanimous city council has decided that Næstved Business Port will move two kilometers out of town, so that the port areas can be developed into a new urban area in close connection with the city center.
The port will thus be located closer to the entrance to Karrebæk Fjord, where there are currently agricultural areas.
It is crucial for the city council that businesses can continue to have goods transported by waterway to Næstved. The new port facility will therefore be designed and dimensioned according to the companies that wish to use and invest in Næstved Business Port.
In connection with the quay facility, a turning facility will be established for smaller ships, while larger ships will have to go around the current port to turn around. With the current traffic, this will be approx. 150 ships annually.
The new port must be designed and dimensioned so that the price can be kept within a budget of approximately 70-80 million. DKK including access roads etc.
Today, Næsted Erhvervshavn is a self-governing port. Whether it will continue to be so must be decided by 1 October this year.
