Blue Water and Arcadia eFuels have signed an agreement to transport liquid CO2 to Arcadia eFuels' upcoming production facility in Vordingborg. The facility will use the captured CO2 in the production of sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF).
It is written Blue Water Shipping.
- Blue Water is the perfect logistics partner for Arcadia eFuels. They are experts in complex logistics operations, including the transport of liquid CO2, while at Arcadia eFuels we are specialists in producing eSAF. We have been very impressed with Blue Water’s professionalism and experience, especially when they shared their lessons learned from the Greensand CCS CO2 test phase. Together we can leverage the project by building on each of our strengths,” says Martin Nielsen, Arcadia eFuels plant manager.
The partnership will initially focus on delivering up to 300,000 tonnes of liquid CO2 per year for an initial period of 10 years. Blue Water will be responsible for sea freight, road transport and terminal handling to ensure safe and efficient delivery of liquid CO2 from various CO2 capture sites in Northern Europe to the plant in Denmark.
The plant in Vordingborg will be the world’s first large-scale PtX plant dedicated to the production of eSAF, and is expected to be operational before the end of this decade. By using biogenic CO2 as a feedstock, Arcadia eFuels will contribute to the development of carbon recycling technology.
- We are honored to be part of this project. This collaboration not only represents an important business milestone for Blue Water, but is also in line with our goal of delivering sustainable energy solutions. The partnership with Arcadia eFuels on the capture, transport and utilization of carbon for eSAF production is an exciting step forward for the logistics industry, says Søren Gammelgaard Nielsen, head of projects at Blue Water.
Arcadia eFuels is working on additional projects in the US, UK and Sweden.
