With a total proposal of over DKK 19 billion, the government will strengthen Danish research and innovation in a number of strategically important areas – including green transition – towards 2029. For this purpose, DKK 6 billion will be allocated to, among other things, sustainable technologies, PtX, biodiversity and circular economy.

Investment in green research is one of three main focus areas in the government's multi-year research plan and is intended to support both climate goals, sustainable development and the export of green solutions.

Among other things, DKK 1.2 billion will be allocated to the continuation of research missions within PtX, CO2 capture, agriculture and circular economy, DKK 600 million for independent green research and DKK 310 million for research in energy, environment, biodiversity and transport. In addition, both strategic research environments at universities and smaller test and development facilities are prioritized.

- Today (Wednesday ed.) we present a breakthrough in the approach to Danish research and innovation policy. We need an approach that reflects the situation that Denmark and Europe find themselves in. Sharp minds must have the best conditions to learn more about security, critical technologies, climate and the environment and health. At the same time, we must maintain the foundation for unforeseen scientific breakthroughs and support risk-taking and wild ideas in Danish top research - just as we must become better at translating research into innovation. With this proposal, we are taking important steps towards future-proofing Danish research and innovation at a crucial time, says Christina Egelund (M), Minister of Education and Research, in a press release.

In addition to the 6 billion DKK for green transition, the government in the proposal plans to invest 6.9 billion DKK in DKK in research into security and critical technologies and DKK 3 billion in health and life science. The priorities must now be negotiated with the parties in the Folketing.
