The directors of two of the Danish giants in green energy are not salaried in Denmark, but they certainly don't go to bed hungry. Thus, both Vestas' CEO, Henrik Andersen, and Ørsted's now former director, Mads Nipper, can be found on a top 12 list of the highest-paid CEOs in Denmark in 2024, which Jyllands-Posten brings based on data from Remuneration Reports.

The highest ranked of Andersen and Nipper is the former, whose salary in 2024 was 32.5 million. DKK. This is a significant increase compared to the previous year, when he received DKK 26.4 million in payment from Vestas. This places him in fifth place among the salaries of top managers in Danish companies. The DKK 18.9 million that Mads Nipper received from Ørsted in 2024 is enough for an 11th place.

Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen from Novo Nordisk remains the highest paid CEO in Denmark with an annual salary of DKK 57.1 million in 2024, which is almost DKK 11 million lower than the year before. In general, the salary of top managers increasingly consists of a variable part, which depends on results and share prices. In Denmark, however, the fixed salary is typically higher than in the USA and the UK, where only 10-20 percent of top managers' remuneration is fixed.
