In a test conducted by the Danish Consumer Council Think of 55 Danish electricity companies, where the electricity companies were assessed and ranked not only in relation to price and any hidden charges and fees, but also customer satisfaction, police reports, cases with the Consumer Ombudsman and the like, 20 out of 55 companies failed.
The test was published on Thursday and already on the same day, the energy group Verdo, which achieved a middle position in the field of approved electricity companies, experienced a busy telephone line. The calls came largely from customers of some of the companies that had performed poorly in the test and therefore wanted to switch to the Randrusian energy group. Verdo states this in a press release.
- On Thursday and Friday, we have had 35-40 inquiries from people who have called specifically based on the test from Think. 8-10 of them were people who called and said that they were with an electricity company that was not behaving properly, and then they wanted to hear if we were one of the decent companies. And fortunately we were able to confirm that, says Jan Christiansen, sales and department manager in Verdo's customer center.
Happy about test also puts positive focus
At Verdo, sales and customer manager for Electricity Sales, Henrik Bach Pedersen, is positive about the Consumer Council's test of the electricity companies, because the study reaches all the way and does not only focus on the bitter vessels in the industry.
- Tænk is a neutral body, and it is really good that they are putting a spotlight on our industry. The press often only writes about the bad electricity companies, but in this test the focus is on the entire industry – including all those who do well every day and who are decent and honest. I think that is positive,” explains Henrik Bach Pedersen.
The Verdo manager also hopes that the test from Tænk may give rise to initiatives that can create a greater focus on transparency in the industry.
- As an industry, we should have more uniform and transparent conditions – for example, regarding variable prices, surcharges, taxes, etc. – so that everything is taken into account when consumers have to make a decision and choose an electricity company. That would provide much greater transparency, says Henrik Bach Pedersen.
