Three municipalities form a common front against Energinet: Want 44-meter-high electricity pylons in the ground

There is broad agreement that the electricity grid in South Zealand needs to be upgraded. But that is where the agreement ends. Energinet plans to install overhead lines for a 400 kV connection on 44-meter-high masts between Vordingborg and Ringsbjerg near Køge. The plan is facing strong opposition from Vordingborg, Næstved and Faxe municipalities, which demand that the power lines be buried to protect nature, and municipalities that want the cables buried. This is reported by TV2 Øst.

- It seems strange that you have an area with protected nature where you are suddenly allowed to put up these masts, it's completely crazy, says Kristina Themsen, who sits on the municipal council in Vordingborg.

The municipalities have sent letters to Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M) in an attempt to change the plans. Several citizens in the area have also expressed opposition to the project, which, among other things, affects Natura 2000 areas at Præstø Fjord. Energinet emphasizes that burial is already planned for parts of the route, but that technical and supply security conditions prevent full burial. The state-owned company is, however, open to changes to the route in connection with the processing of consultation responses, if better routes are found.
