Establishing solar energy on municipal roofs has been difficult to achieve for years - and projects continue to be abandoned in advance due to the requirement to form a company. But the demand that high electricity taxes be paid has also been a thorn in the side of many municipalities.

The dilemmas also came up on stage at the KL Climate Summit in Sønderborg, when Climate Minister Lars Aagaard (M) and KL Committee Chairman Birgit S. Hansen (S) crossed swords on the issue that the two have clearly discussed intensely.

Aagaard began by getting loud incredulous laughter from the audience when he said that "No rules prevent solar cells on municipal roofs".

1 GW on the flat hand

Birgit S. Hansen tried to get him (a little) to meet his demands by reminding him that "the last minister always said that" when the topic was corporatization and tariffs.

The current positions of the debate were quite clear when Aagaard declared his agreement that the bureaucratic elements in the necessary company formation. It should be easier.

The KL committee chair acknowledged that report, but thought that "the incentive is rather poor":

- We can deliver 1 GW from solar on public roofs - that's a given, she appealed and could not help but use the phrase "low-hanging fruit".

The climate minister was not one to cut or poke on the question of electricity taxes:

- You don't want to pay electricity taxes and don't want to pay to the collective electricity grid? You want incentives, but you have to pay the same as private companies. The municipalities are also part of society. I think the current rules are really good, said the minister.
