The electricity company Vindstød, based in Aarhus, has pressured customers to change their negative reviews of the company on Trustpilot. This is reported by TV2 Østjylland.
Therefore, the overall assessment of the company - the so-called TrustScore - is not available right now. Trustpilot warns users on its website that Vindstød has violated the guidelines.
- By doing this, they deliberately limit the information on their profile. This is not allowed on Trustpilot, as it can lead to bias and compromise the reliability of the reviews, says a warning from Trustpilot.
- You should be able to freely share your experience with a company - both positive and negative.
Vindstød was first contacted by Trustpilot in September last year, after Trustpilot had received evidence of a violation of the guidelines. This inquiry was followed up on in October, and in November a consumer warning was placed on Vindstød's profile.
Anders Ørneborg, who is customer service manager at Vindstød, tells TV2 Østjylland that the company has only contacted customers behind negative reviews a few times. Neither Trustpilot nor Vindstød will inform the media outlet exactly how many times this has happened.
According to Anders Ørneborg, the company has in some cases felt compelled to contact customers behind negative reviews out of consideration for its employees. There have been "defamatory statements", it says.
- In other extreme situations, where we feel treated rudely and unfairly, and where dialogue has not been possible, we have had to tell reviewers that they risk legal consequences, Anders Ørneborg tells the media.
He acknowledges that Vindstød has violated the guidelines at Trustpilot, but that they were not aware of the guidelines when it happened. The warning from Trustpilot will be visible until May this year, writes TV 2 Østjylland.
Vindstød A/S has an office at Inge Lehmanns Gade 10, 6th floor, 8000 Aarhus C. - and the company apparently does not have an address on Google Maps, where anonymous reviews would have been an option. According to the company information, Vindstød A/S has 25 employees, and the director of the company is Morten Nissen Nielsen.
