The plans to erect 11 large wind turbines and 100 hectares of solar cells at Røjbæk in Thy will not come to fruition this time. The politicians have chosen to remove the project from the municipal priority list after it received massive opposition in a local vote. Nordjyske writes about this.
- This should not be understood as meaning that it will never come up at Røjbæk. But the people behind the project must do more to convince the neighbors that it is a good idea to build it,
says Jens Kristian Yde (K), chairman of the Business, Climate, Environment and Technology Committee in Thisted Municipality.
The project at Røjbæk was the largest of eight energy plans that were sent to a vote among the closest neighbors. Here, 73 percent voted no, with a vote percentage of 40.5. This was the clearest rejection of all the proposals.
Two other projects in the same prioritization round – so-called Window 1 – are moving forward. These are solar cells between Bjerre and Thisted Airport and the replacement of three old turbines at Gisselbæk. Both received a yes from over 60 percent of the neighbors, although the voting percentage here was lower.
Instead of the project at Røjbæk, two smaller proposals are moving forward in the queue: solar cells at Ballerum and five wind turbines at Vibberstoft.
