The PtX project Megaton near Stovstrup is facing opposition from local politicians who doubt both the project's basis and its feasibility. However, the Technical and Environmental Committee has given the company GreenGo Energy permission to begin planning at its own expense and risk.

Niels Rasmussen, chairman of the SF's city council group in Tarm, believes that the basis for the project is too uncertain:
- We simply don't know enough about what Megaton is. PtX projects are being dropped all around. The technology is uncertain, and the safety assessments are not in place, he says.
Jørgen Byskov from the Danish Democrats also doubts the project's realization:
- I think it will be uphill. We have promised citizens that plants will only be built if the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, he says.
The Megaton project, which is planned with a total capacity of 3 GW, involves 1,000 hectares of solar cells, 30 wind turbines and a factory for the production of green fuels as part of Denmark's green transition.
