Denmark took an important step in the green transition today, when Everfuel and Crossbridge Energy Fredericia, with the participation of, among others, Minister of Finance Nicolai Wammen, inaugurated HySynergy – one of Europe's first large-scale electrolysis plants for the production of certified green hydrogen. At the same time, the first filled hydrogen trailer was sent to Germany and marked Denmark's first export of green hydrogen. This is stated by Everfuel in a statement.

- HySynergy is a symbol of Denmark being at the forefront of Europe's green transition. We have now shown that green hydrogen can be produced on an industrial scale, supplied to industry – and exported. In Denmark, people have been talking about the potential of green hydrogen for years. Now we are showing that it can be done in practice, which paves the way for the establishment of a real value chain and the multiplication of production capacities in the coming years, when the hydrogen pipeline to Germany is available, says Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO and founder of Everfuel.

The hydrogen produced at the HySynergy plant is green hydrogen and a 100 percent clean energy carrier made from renewable energy, and a key technology for the transformation of heavy industry and transport in Europe. This is the first time that RFNBO-certified green hydrogen produced in Denmark is exported abroad, where the market conditions for green hydrogen are more favorable.

The HySynergy project has been developed in collaboration with Crossbridge Energy Fredericia, which already purchases green hydrogen from the plant for use in the production of liquid fuel. The collaboration shows how green hydrogen can reduce CO2 emissions in traditional fuel production.

- For Crossbridge Energy, the collaboration with Everfuel is an important milestone. We already use 35 tons of hydrogen per day in our production. That hydrogen is produced from fossil crude oil, but can be replaced with green hydrogen, and we are already doing so in practice. But unfortunately, there is no carrot associated with taking the lead in making it better and better. We have shown that we can – now the legislation must keep up with the development so that we can deliver on the great green ambitions in Denmark, says Finn Schousboe, CEO of Crossbridge Energy.

HySynergy is the first step in Everfuel's ambition to establish over 2 GW of electrolysis capacity in Denmark by 2035. The plans also include the Frigg project in Revsing Energy Park near Vejen, from which hydrogen will be delivered directly to German industrial customers through the upcoming hydrogen pipeline, which is expected to be ready in 2030.
