Energinet has three main focuses in its annual report on security of electricity supply.

Robustness in the electricity grid, European cooperation and strengthened preparedness must ensure Denmark's high security of electricity supply, Energinet's new report shows.

Energinet's annual report on electricity supply security "Report on electricity supply security 2025" has now been sent to the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities after a consultation. The report points to three key areas of focus for maintaining the high Danish security of supply: a robust electricity grid, close European cooperation and strengthened preparedness and security. Energinet writes.

The green transition challenges the robustness of the electricity grid, as the phasing out of power plants and increasing electricity production from wind and solar increases complexity. Energinet assesses that new technical solutions and investments are necessary to ensure stable operation and withstand errors. In the report, the company recommends that the average number of outage minutes in 2035 does not exceed 38 per year – corresponding to Danes having electricity 99.993 percent of the time.

- When we recommend a target of a maximum of 38 outage minutes per year for Danish electricity consumers, it is an expression of our desire to maintain a very high level of security of electricity supply, even though we know that it can be difficult at a time when the electricity system is changing significantly. If we are to ensure that Danes can continue to trust that electricity is there when they need it, it requires major investments, new technological solutions and close cooperation across the entire sector, says Stine Grenaa Jensen, Deputy Director of Energinet's System Development.

Denmark's integration into the European electricity system is highlighted as a strength that contributes to flexibility and stability when countries support each other in the event of imbalances or breakdowns. Energinet points out that investments in both Danish and foreign connections are necessary, and that cooperation only works if all countries contribute.

At the same time, focus is increasing on preparedness and security, as the threat to critical infrastructure is growing. Energinet has therefore intensified efforts for both physical and digital security of the energy sector and has allocated 1.6 billion DKK to protect the company's approximately 350 facilities.

- We have intensified efforts for both physical and digital security of the energy sector, so that Denmark is better equipped to withstand future threats to the electricity supply. Most recently, we have allocated 1.6 billion DKK for the physical protection of our approximately 350 facilities, says Stine Grenaa Jensen.
