Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard will meet with Germany's Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Robert Habeck on Wednesday. The title of the meeting is the Danish-German cooperation on the green European agenda. This is stated by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities in a press release.
- Neither climate change nor CO2 emissions are limited by national borders – so neither should our climate and energy policy be. Germany is an important partner in the work of phasing out fossil fuels and green transition of the whole of Europe. I look forward to discussing this with my good colleague Robert Habeck, says Lars Aagaard.
Last year, Denmark and Germany entered into a cooperation agreement to support the establishment of a hydrogen pipeline connection between the two countries. Denmark's ambition to produce much more renewable energy than we can use nationally is one of the pieces that Germany is missing in the green transition of, among others, German industry. The hydrogen pipeline connection will also be important in the rest of Europe. Once established, it will serve as a link between producers and consumers of green hydrogen in the EU.
- Green hydrogen is part of Europe's green future - and in this, our cooperation with Germany is an important link between producers and consumers of green hydrogen across national borders. We must achieve European climate neutrality, and to do that we must use green hydrogen, says Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard.
In addition to the meeting with the German minister, Lars Aagaard will participate in a roundtable discussion on green hydrogen with key Danish and German market players.
