The Frederician energy company Recraft Energy has withdrawn from the plant at Randers Havn, which Makeen Energy is currently building. The plant will be able to convert waste plastic into oil using pyrolysis. Makeen Energy has now taken over full ownership. This is reported by Randers Amtsavis.
- Recraft has a new strategy, where investments in plants like the one we are building are no longer relevant. But it is a win-win situation for us, because it gives us the opportunity to regain ownership of the factory. This means that we can spend the necessary time and focus on completing the technology, says Mads Bach Christensen, CEO of Makeen Energy.
In connection with the takeover, Makeen Energy has restructured its workforce, which has led to the dismissal of 13 employees. The plant has been delayed several times, and in 2024, the development of the plant reduced Makeen Energy's bottom line by around DKK 170 million. The company does not expect actual production at the plant this year, but hopes to start up in 2026.
