Possible wind turbines in the Wadden Sea National Park: Here is the response from the ministry

If a new wind turbine test center is decided upon, the consequences must be investigated for the impact on the environment and nature as well as the neighbors first.

"Tudetosset and stupid" was the sound when The Danish Nature Conservation Association and the Wadden Sea National Park brought together a wide range of stakeholders in the fight against a wind turbine test center in or around the Wadden Sea National Park.

The case is in the Ministry of Church Affairs, and here DOI.dk has received the following written response to the criticism:

"The agreement group behind the political agreement on good framework conditions for testing wind turbines, consisting of S, V, M, SF, LA, KF, RV and DF, decided before the summer holidays that an environmental and habitat impact assessment should not be carried out at that time of any of the six areas in South Jutland and North Jutland, which according to the agreement have been the subject of a targeted screening. Instead, there was support that the Danish Planning and Rural Development Agency should review areas that had previously been excluded, for example due to the need for new road infrastructure, land reclamation and/or more expropriations than originally intended. This process is still ongoing and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

In the discussions so far, the agreement group has emphasized identifying all options and ensuring that all necessary considerations, including nature, are identified before a final decision is made on a possible third test center for large wind turbines.

If the parties to the agreement decide to proceed with investigating options for establishing new test facilities for large prototype turbines in one or more of the screened areas, a thorough impact assessment of the impact on the environment and nature as well as neighbors of the test center must be carried out before a decision can be made on the location of a test center. As part of this, thorough noise calculations and analyses must be carried out to assess the total noise load from both the test turbines and any existing wind turbines in the area.

Information about the process for a possible third center for test wind turbines is publicly available and can be found on the website planinfo.dk. Here you can also read the following note about the professional basis for the targeted screening of six areas in South Jutland and North Jutland: Note on the results of targeted screening for a third test center June 2023 (002).pdf (planinfo.dk)"
