Danish Industry congratulates the country's new and re-elected mayors on the election - but at the same time emphasizes that action is now needed on key agendas. The organization states this in a press release, which was issued in reaction to the municipal election.

- I have not been elected. But if I had been given the trust as mayor, I would take the task incredibly seriously. There is a great need for local communities to thrive - both for citizens and businesses. Because if businesses thrive, Denmark thrives. Then you have a municipality with good jobs, happy citizens and the economy to create change. It requires courage, presence and focus on change, but it is useful, says Lars Sandahl Sørensen, CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry.

According to DI, municipalities should particularly strengthen their efforts in three areas: Helping young people better on their way to education and jobs, creating closer dialogue with the business community and investing in infrastructure that supports green transition.

DI points out that companies are increasingly demanding efficient transport, fast digital coverage and green energy solutions such as district heating, fiber networks and a future-proof energy grid. According to the organization, investments in green transition are crucial for growth, jobs and the development of local communities.

- We cannot create the companies of the future on yesterday's infrastructure. Municipalities must dare to invest in something that will not necessarily be ready in a four-year election period – both in roads, digital capacity and green energy. These are not expenses, but investments in local jobs and future competitiveness, says Lars Sandahl Sørensen.
