Danish stocks rise except Ørsted

Milder tones from US President Donald Trump trigger a morning price increase on the stock exchange.

The Danish C25 shares start Wednesday in positive territory on Wednesday morning, with the elite index initially rising by 2.1 percent from the opening of trading, but has since fallen back slightly. The increase comes after US shares advanced roughly similarly on Tuesday evening Danish time.

The US shares rose, among other things, on the basis of statements from US President Donald Trump, who struck a more conciliatory tone in the tariff war against China. At the same time, Trump also denied that he would fire the head of the US central bank, Jerome Powell.

The same Trump had otherwise created uncertainty in the financial markets when he accused Powell during the Easter holidays of not doing his job enough and that he intended to dismiss the central bank governor. Apart from Ørsted and Tryg, all 23 other C25 shares rose. GN and Maersk shares are the best performers, with increases of more than five percent.

Both stocks are benefiting from fewer tariff walls and continued trade between the US and China. In the case of GN Store Nord, this is because many of the company's products on the US market are produced in China.

And in the case of Maersk, it is because less trade across the Pacific will also reduce the need for container ships that can transport goods between the two countries.
