They are proud of their test bench at Dynamica Ropes in Taulov, and it's not just because it's Denmark's longest test bench. All slings that leave the factory have been through the test bench.
These are slings that are used for all kinds of lifting work, both offshore in the oil and gas industry and for the wind turbine industry. While you would think that the stress of a test would make slings weaker, exactly the opposite happens when slings made of the material Dyneema are exposed to stress.
- It's like Dyneema gets even stronger from being stressed during the test, says sales manager at Dynamica Ropes Kate Christensen.
With its 35 meters, it's nothing less than Denmark's longest test bench, which Dynamica Ropes got back in 2015.
- It has really made a big difference for us, because we test our entire production. All slings have simply been tested against their working load limit (WLL) when they leave the factory, says Kate Christensen.
The sales manager would also like to elaborate on how the test is carried out.
- If a sling is to be able to lift 100 tons, it is tested to 142 tons. And a sling must be able to lift a weight of seven times the weight it is made for. This means that a sling made to lift 100 tons must be able to lift 700 tons, says Kate Christensen.
There are also other advantages to all slings being tested. It has something to do with length, and it is especially important when Dynamica Ropes slings are to be used in lifting work in the wind turbine industry, where precision is required.
- Our testing means that our slings are very precise in length. They have the length that they have.
This is especially important when, for example, a nacelle has to be lifted into place on a tower of a wind turbine. We offer safety and quality with our testing, and we are the only ones who do it as standard, says Kate Christensen.
