Internal documents show that one of the Ukrainian companies that will have production in Denmark is FPRT. This is reported by DR, which has a confidential email that has been circulated among ministries and agencies.
This shows that FPRT, which was founded by Fire Point, will produce solid rocket fuel, and that production is scheduled to begin on December 1. Fire Point is behind Ukraine's so-called "flamingo missiles". They use solid rocket fuel, which FPRT produces.
TV 2 has also gained access to an internal document from the Danish Business Authority, which shows that FPRT is about to receive a permit for production close to Skrydstrup Air Base near Vojens.
Both media describe a Danish website belonging to FPRT, which states that the company is working on a major project to "establish modern production facilities in Vojens".
In June, Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen (V) entered into an agreement with his Ukrainian colleague, Rustem Umerov. The agreement was that Denmark would invite Ukrainian companies to produce, for example, drones or missiles in Denmark.
The government has set aside 500 million kroner for efforts to "strengthen the establishment" of Ukrainian companies in Denmark, the Ministry of Defense wrote in a press release in June.
Also in June, Troels Lund Poulsen said that he expects the agreement to also benefit Danish defense, because the Ukrainian companies can, for example, produce drones for the Danish defense.
In August, the Folketing first considered a bill that will make it possible to disregard rules in the planning and environmental areas if defense construction of significant national importance is constructed.
The bill has been met with great criticism. Troels Lund Poulsen has made no secret of the fact that the law will, among other things, be used to help establish Ukrainian arms production in Denmark.
The Ukrainian flamingo missiles are cruise missiles that can carry a 1,150-kilogram warhead and fly 3,000 kilometers. According to Politico, they are called flamingos because the tip, where the warhead is located, was originally pink.
It was intended as "a feminine touch on missiles" in a male-dominated world of arms production, Fire Point's technical and CEO, Iryna Terekh, explained to Politico.
The Ministry of Defense has not commented on the case of FPRT to either DR or TV 2. The ministry will not do so to Ritzau either. DR has tried to get a comment from FPRT and Fire Point. They have not returned DR's request. TV 2 has been in contact with Vyacheslav Bondarchuk, director of FPRT.
- The plan is for an official announcement to be made next week. Until then, I have no comments, he tells the media.
