Fredericia Shipping A/S and ADP A/S are establishing a joint company to operate and develop Denmark's second largest container terminal at the Port of Fredericia. The company will be called Fredericia Container Terminal A/S, and with the new company, the port is aiming to expand its position from a container port with regional significance to becoming one of Denmark's national container hubs with international accessibility via all the major container shipping lines, the municipally owned port company ADP said in a statement.
The establishment of the new company is an extension of many years of close cooperation between ADP A/S and Fredericia Shipping A/S on the development of one of Denmark's most competitive container terminals. With the new company, the two parties enter into a long-term contract for the operation and commercial development of the container business.
- Fredericia must participate in the growth of the global container market, and therefore we need a strong local partner, as well as the upcoming port expansion, so that both areas, security and logistics can keep up with the increased container volumes. With the new company, we will have a binding and close collaboration in the development of the container business, says Rune D. Rasmussen, CEO of ADP A/S.
