Denmark will quadruple its electricity from solar and wind within just a few years, erect many hundreds of new offshore turbines, build energy islands, switch to 100 percent green gas and hydrogen and significantly expand its energy infrastructure.

This will require many more employees for Energinet, which currently has 1,800 employees here, of which approximately 1,400 are at its headquarters in Erritsø. The company expects to hire approximately 500 new employees within two years.

- We will not only need many more office workplaces for the colleagues who will ensure that Denmark reaches the goal of the green transition, we must also future-proof, for example, our control room for the Danish electricity and gas grid. A completely green electricity system, where the electricity comes from thousands and thousands of turbines and solar parks, which constantly produce, "as the wind blows" and "the sun shines", makes it much more complicated to ensure the Danes' daily supply and places completely new demands on space and interior design, says Stina Willumsen, Director of HR, Strategy and Communication at Energinet.

New expansion in tender next year

As a result of the expected large employee growth, Energinet's board of directors has decided to build a new office building in connection with the existing office building in Fredericia. The new building will also make up for the fact that some of Energinet's employees have worked in temporary pavilions set up next to the office buildings for several years.

- In reality, we already have around 800 employees daily in buildings that were originally built for 650, says Stina Willumsen.

A new office building will be located facing Kolding Landevej. The construction is expected to be put out to tender in early 2023. The new office building is expected to be ready by the end of 2025.

Energinet's current headquarters was inaugurated in 2008. In 2016, another office building was built next door.
