Thisted Varmeforsyning has entered into a collaboration with an international consortium led by Carbon Clean on CO2 capture and storage from the utility's waste incineration plant. This is what Dansk Fjernvarme writes.
- We have great confidence in this collaboration with, among others, Carbon Clean, which is a natural and ambitious next step in our multi-year work to reduce our climate footprint, says Søren Højmose Damgaard, CEO of Thisted Varmeforsyning.
The utility has submitted an application for prequalification for the Danish Energy Agency's CCS pool. The project builds on experiences from a pilot project in 2021 and cooperation in the CO2Vision project.
If the CO2 capture is realized, the utility estimates that the project can contribute to Denmark's goal of a 70 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.
- We believe in this project and its climate potential, while at the same time ensuring that the final solution creates optimal value for our consumers and society, says Thomas Kristensen, chairman of the board of directors of Thisted Varmeforsyning.
